Citizens Bank CDs

The Citizens Bank CDs are from an American based bank that is owned by the British government. This is due to the fact that the Royal Bank of Scotland purchased Citizens and all of its assets in 1988 but had to be bailed out by the British Government. This gave England the controlling shares of this financial institution.

The current Bank CD Rates are in a tiered format. There are the standard CD rates, the rates for the Circle Banking customers and the rates for the Circle Gold Banking customers. The 15 month CD is earning an APY of 0.20%, 0.45% and 0.70% respectively. The 2 year CD is earning an APY of 0.85%, 1.10% and 1.35%. The 3 year CD is earning an APY of 0.95%, 1.20% and 1.45%. The best CD rates are from the 5 year CD. This CD is currently earning an APY of 1.05%, 1.30% and 1.55% respectively.

Each of these CDs require a minimum deposit if $1,000. Each of these CD’s can also be a part of your IRA plan where the minimum deposit is only $250. All of the CDs and their funds are protected by the FDIC up to and including $100,000.

These Citizens Bank CDs and their rates were posted on November 20, 2010 but are subject to change without notice.
