Amazon Prime Members Now Get Free Streaming Videos

For those of you that are a Amazon.com Prime member you will be elated to know that you now get free streaming from their selection of over 5000 movies and TV shows.

I signed up for Amazon.com Prime service because I buy a lot through Amazon. It only costs $79 a year and that gets you free 2-day shipping on items sold by Amazon and $3.99 next day shipping. It is well worth the cost. Well now with over 5000 free movies and TV shows, Amazon Prime just got a whole lot sweeter!

I noticed this when I logged into my account this morning. Usually you could rent/buy videos from them in a section called “Video On Demand”. Well they changed that to “Instant Videos”. When I saw that, I new something was up. There had been rumors as of late about Amazon jumping into the streaming video arena, but no one knew that it would be free for those on the Amazon Prime membership. Everyone was sure there was going to be an added cost. So this is definitely great news!

The free videos are not the most current releases, but there is enough out there to keep you entertained on a Friday night. You can watch these videos on your PC, but if you want to get them to your TV, you need a device that is capable of getting them there. I have a Roku Streaming Player which only runs $70. There are no monthly fees, so once you buy it, that’s it. It also streams Netflix (subscription required) as well as your free Pandora music.

Between the new free streaming on Amazon.com Prime and Netflix, I am seeing less and less reasons to be paying $80 a month for my Comcast Cable.
